fall in wisconsin...

wow - the weather has been really funky lately - 90's and humid yesterday and last week it was near freezing at night and mid-50's during the day...anywho - i've gotten a few new skirts done - will be getting them in my shop later today.

in other news i will be art vs. craft in milwaukee on december 8th (10 a.m. - 7 p.m.) i'm very excited - i hope i get to meet some of you face to face. i will have some great items and some special sales - if you're in the area be sure to check it out!

here's a sneak peak of one of my fave new skirts - i'm sooooo tempted to keep this one for myself - the colors are much better in person (really hard to capture accurately).

ciao for now my lovelies...

hooray - hooray - my website is finally live...

hey there i'm sooooo happy my website is done! i've had some "motivational" experiences as of late and needed to kick it into gear and get the website done. i'm trying to get my act together to apply for a show that happens over the holiday season in milwaukee - cross your fingers for me everybody!
on some sad news my serger has been in the repair shop - hopefully to be completed by this saturday - i'm having withdrawals....BAD!
we're also trying to finish up loose ends to get our house ready for sale, and i've decided to return to school to try to finish up my degree...between this and regular family and work stuff i'm just about ready to burst. i hope i'll be able to keep some sort of balance...it might be tough.
i'll be sure to send out an e-mail when the i update the shop...hopefully mid-next week.

christmas in august...

well...i got a little present today from an unnamed person who has a job in the "garbage" industry. he brought me a big bunch of upholstery samples that an unnamed fabric store had thrown away - what fun - it's like christmas.

i couldn't begin to tell you all the amazing things he finds on a daily basis. it really makes me think about why there is soooooo much trash and how i can help just a little by creating something useful out of this "trash".

i'm going to try to get in some studio time in this week so keep your eyes peeled for newness.

p.s. the other day i hit the mother load of awesome industrial cast-offs at a thrift shop that sells the fabric scraps from an unnamed furniture maker in the area - funky totes coming soon!

where have you gone...

summer that is. holy moly time has just been flyin' lately. my day job has been taking over more time lately and so creative work has been slow going. i'm hoping to get more time in the studio once school starts again but for now i'm trying to squeeze in a couple of hours here and there. i've been dying up a storm and should have some things to show for it very soon. but for now here's a few updates that i've wrapped up - they're skirts that have been given face lifts as they were hanging around the ole' etsy shop a bit too long for my tastes soooo - without further ado, introducing dottie and buttons:

dottie got her name for the 7 unique "dotties" that now adorn her...

buttons got a new collage type patch in front and back with loads of stitching and such...

they'll be listed in the shop soon - join my mailing list if you wanna' be the first to know.

here comes the rain again...

well - after much dryness (the storms have all seemed to go around us lately) we've got the rain - off and on again yesterday and today. yesterday the kiddos and i decided to turn our kitchen into an art studio and do some painting and collage-ing - we had loads of fun and even made some gifts for some grandma(s). here's what we came up with - we all made houses of some sort - the first is by my #1 - new york at night - the second by my #2 - it's our house of course and we're there waving out the windows...

and lastly is my creation (i'm a bit rusty haven't actually picked up a paint brush for non-home improvement purposes for a really long time)...but i've been so inspired by this that i needed to get out the paints and paper and glue...if you're wondering what those plastic bags are - well i told my family that "i want to dye" for my birthday and thankfully they were supportive so i am now the proud mother of a huge box of dye - oh the fun i've been having...i'll share pics soon

anywho - in some "work related" news - there's a house cleaning sale going on in my etsy store if you're on my list you already know about it - if you're not on my list - well, sign up i tell you - you won't regret it!

the slacker that is me...

well i've been back from madison for quite a while - so long in fact that i am returning tomorrow for some auntie duties...i haven't been sitting idly by oh no - i've been...

  1. sewing a wedding dress
  2. finishing up some stuff for persimmons - a local shop (the owner, kim is fabulous btw)working on some graphic design projects for my regular gig and a local theatre group
  3. spending time with my kiddos
  4. trying to fit in time for creating...
anywho here are some of the pics from the last trip (i did promise after all). first up is the three monkeys...the two on the left are my babes and the littlest of them all is my bro's oldest. and the close up is mr. k - don't cha' just wanna' eat up those cheeks....mmmmm.

and last but not least is one of my favorite animals at the zoo...why i'm not quite sure....i'm sure their color has something to do with it - maybe it's because they don't look quite as sad as the other animals. i have a real problem with going to zoos in general, my sympathy/empathy issues really flare up and i usually leave rather depressed. this trip wasn't too bad though - the henry vilas zoo in madison is definitely worth the trip if you're near by and hey best of all it's FREE!

i'm thinking of doing something with this image - not quite sure what yet, but it may pop up in one of my creations in the not so distant future.

today i got soooooo worked up over some issues i've been carrying with me - i really need to work on letting things go...but the day ended up being really nice - i got to meet a new friend and spend some time with my lovies.

hoping your thursday is splendid...luv - g.
